Salvo Piparo as the poet Meli decants in verse the goodness of the specialties of Palermo’s monasteries. Fedde, a specialty of the Chancellor’s Monastery, are marzipan and pistachio shells filled with apricot jam and blancmange cream. The poet was crazy about this dessert.
