The first video story on one of Sicily’s oldest typical monastery sweets, Minni di virgini, is online.
Salvo Piparo as the poet Meli decants in verse the goodness of the specialties of Palermo’s monasteries. Virgini minni are pasties in the shape of female breasts, a specialty of the nuns of the Virgini Monastery. A gluttonous goodness also present in the pages of The Leopard, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel Strega Prize in 1959.
