April 24, 2023 4 p.m, at Cathedral of Palermo (Manifestation Via dei Librai) the Volume published by Genio Editore “Le impudiche paste delle Vergini” is presented.
Short Description of the Volume: Ceremonial breads and cakes made in the shape of udders are widespread in different parts of Italy: sometimes they derive from ancient reminiscences of pagan cults, sometimes from devotion to saints and holy men and women (such as St. Agatha), and sometimes they are made as a sign of good luck. Breads and cakes in the shape of breasts hark back to an ancestral universe, suspended between the sacred and the profane because in most ancient religions the image of the breast was linked to a primordial principle of vitality and nourishment and a wish for prosperity and abundance.
